What is the COMPASS framework?

COMPASS is a points-based system that has evaluated EP applications since 2023. It considers salary, qualifications, company diversity, and support for local workforce.

Can I change employers?

Yes, switching is possible, but you need to submit a new EP application. Whether and how quickly the switch is approved depends on various factors — such as the new employer, your salary, and your COMPASS score.

How do I get Permanent Residency?

Realistically, you should plan for at least 2 years before a serious PR application usually makes sense. Approval is never automatic and depends on your profile, employment history, income, family situation, integration and ICA's assessment.

Can I change employers on an Employment Pass?

Yes, but the new employer must submit a new Employment Pass application. The pass is tied to the sponsoring employer, so you should not treat it as freely transferable without a new approval.

What taxes will I pay in Singapore?

Singapore levies income tax on Singapore-sourced income. The rate is progressive at 0–24% for residents. Capital gains are not taxed.
